Your Responsibilities
As a Long Haul Truck Driver with ADP Transport Ltd., your duties include:
- Planning or adjusting routes using GPS or computer equipment to ensure efficiency and minimize fuel consumption
- Driving as part of a two-person team or convoy on long-haul routes
- Loading and unloading cargo safely and securely
- Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks for goods and materials transport
- Conducting brake checks, preventive maintenance, and emergency roadside repairs when required
- Performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers
- Recording cargo information, fuel consumption, distance travelled, and hours of service
- Ensuring cargo safety using proper tarping and securing procedures
- Receiving and relaying information to central dispatch
- Coaching or assisting other drivers when needed
Skills and Requirements
To qualify, you should have:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: Will train (entry-level drivers welcome)
- Language: English
- Licensing: Valid driver’s licence (Class 1 or equivalent preferred)
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Strong time management, route planning, and safety awareness skills
- Flexibility to drive long distances across provinces or internationally
Documentation and Safety Requirements
- Valid passport
- Criminal record check
- Drug test
- Driver logbook and accident report knowledge
- Safety vest and protective gloves required
